Recently someone told me, “You write a lot.” It wasn’t said as a compliment, but I take it as a positive and it is necessary to write “a lot’ when one is designing a new church website and new church documents. So, regarding my observations and philosophy, it is as follows:
I’m grateful – grateful for the opportunity to share life with others.  I’m thankful for the men and women who hunger for the Word of God. The times in our land have evidenced that most do not really hunger nor want it. They think they do and say they do, but their actions prove them to be mistaken or dishonest. Many only want to hear what they want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3).  I’m appreciative that there are those who don’t desire a brief “sermon” which is actually only a sermonette which produces continual spiritual infancy-if any life whatsoever. Those who love God also love His Word. Those who love His Word do not put their own parameters on it according to their comfort zone, traditions, or whims. When leaders in any given church do not attend Bible studies or prayer meetings then it is apparent that that church is in trouble and in the danger of being a country club or such with only a religious label and some practices thereof. 
As we develop Grace Baptist Church, I have been researching other churches and I have noticed only a few websites which give any information on what they believe and what their practice is on the teaching and preaching of the Bible.  Many seem to be marketing something other than spiritual growth from the Word of God for the glory of God in a local family setting.  A refreshing exception is by a church in the Richmond, Virginia area suggested to me by a friend. They publish, in the “About Us” section, that the teaching/preaching is in the form of expository sermons for approximately forty-five minutes. I applaud them. I know the church and know that they produce mature believers in Christ.  If you don’t know what expository preaching is, you can learn about it on our church website "About Us" page.
It is refreshing that I am having fellowship with a group of believers in Jesus who do want the Word. They listen. They listen to learn. They listen to grow. They listen to the very end. They ask questions after the sermon. So, it’s evident that they go beyond listening to hearing. Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Matthew 11:15)  They want to hear and learn, not just do their time in church.  I want to be grateful and considerate of their time but they seem hungry for God and His Word, and that fact fills me with joy.
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18)

May God's will be done and may He receive the glory due unto His Name.  I ask the Lord to guide me and keep my motives pure as I proceed in ministry with other brothers and sisters.  Soli Deo Gloria.
